CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

    DEFINITIONS

    A NON-PROFESSIONAL MOVIE is made exclusively for the pleasure and challenge. There must not be any profit motive involved and it must not have been, or intended to be, sold, offered for sale or hire. Any movie funded or sponsored in full or in part from an outside source is not eligible.

  1. Entry fee of $A5.00 per movie must be received prior to 1st September 2010 or the entry will not be accepted.

  2. Australian entrants are required to meet transient and/or return movie costs. An additional amount of $A5.00 per movie together with the entry fee is required for return of movies.

    Overseas entrants requesting return of their movie must forward a bank draft covering the entry fee plus $A20.00 per movie to meet return postage. Note foreign coins will not be accepted.

  3. The Festival Committee reserves the right to re-classify any movie.

  4. The Festival Committee reserves the right to reject, withdraw or terminate any movie considered not to be entertaining or suitable for screening to a general audience.

  5. Videos may be VHS, SVHS (PAL or NTSC), DVD-R/DVD-RW (PAL only), Mini DV (SP PAL only) and must have a 10 second black lead in and only one movie per cassette or disc. Complete films copied to video are acceptable. Motion picture film may be 16mm, or 8mm, including widescreen (anamorphic system) and should contain a two-meter leader. English dialogue is preferred for all entries.

  6. Whilst every precaution will be taken with all entries, no responsibility for any loss or damage to movies can be accepted.

  7. The Festival Committee reserves the right to copy and/or televise all or part of any movie entered for publicity purposes.

  8. The decision of the judges is absolute and final.

  9. AWARDS

    • The top movie in each classification will receive a Bronze Cineman Award provided they attain the required standard.

    • There must be two or more entries in the classifications of Photoplay, General or Documentary/Travel for a trophy to be awarded.

    • The Judges will select the outright winner in each category of the Festival from the winning movies in each classification.

    • The outright winner will receive the Gold Cineman Award in lieu of the Bronze Cineman Award.

    • The FESTIVAL COMMITTEE RESERVES the right to withhold any or all awards if entries are not up to the standard of the competition.

    • Additional Awards and Diplomas of Merit will be awarded at the discretion of the Festival Committee.


    PLEASE NOTE

    All movies will be retained by the Festival Committee unless you direct as follows:

    • Return of your movie by regular mail (Aust.) or economy mail (Overseas) and have forwarded the cost of postage as stated in item 2 above.

    • To be collected personally by arrangement.

    The 43rd Melbourne International Movie Festival will be conducted on the 9th October 2010. The festival is open to all Non-Professional Movies (refer to definitions and entry conditions above). It is a condition of entry that by submitting your entry form that you agree to the conditions of the festival.
